The presentation will identify several topics on claims – causes of claims, common mistakes made by dentists, severity of claims, trends and typical claim payments.
We will then discuss documentation of patient records, developing and maintaining a rapport with patients, informed consent and the procedure for terminating a dentist‑patient relationship.
Final discussion will be on coverages to look for in your policy, risk management concerns other than professional liability and employment practices liability.
Educational objectives are to help dentists avoid common mistakes that lead to lawsuits; convey the importance of communication with patients and provide a better understanding of the liability exposures dentists face.
